Better Business Bureau of North Alabama, Inc. Scholarship - $1000 scholarship opportunity for both junior and senior students. Judges will select the scholarship recipients based on their overall personal integrity, character, personal achievements, contributions to their communities and schools, and academic accomplishments. Applicants must complete an application form, write an essay of 400 words or less, send a current transcript, (if awarded a scholarship) winners are required to attend the BBB Torch Awards Luncheon to share the essay. Applications are included in this packet. Deadline: September 30, 2013 at 4:30PM. You may also apply online.

A scholarship opportunity for students age 14 and older. You are invited to enter and win $1,000 for your school plus a $10,000 scholarship for you by designing a greeting card. Auburn University, The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, University of Alabama Birmingham, and University of Alabama, Huntsville – Priority deadline for Freshman scholarships is December 1, 2013.

Coca-Cola Scholars Program – 250 four-year achievement-based scholarships ($10,000-$20,000 awards) will be awarded to high school seniors. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year and must plan to attend a degree in an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution. Apply online at https://www.coca-colascholars.org. Applications are due October 31, 2013

Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship – You must be a full-time high school senior and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. An online application is available at www.jimmyranefoundation.org. The application will be available December 1 through February.

Linly Heflin Scholarship – Award amounts of $3,000 renewable to a limited number of Alabama women who have significant economic need and a sound academic record. Criteria includes: graduating senior, admission and attendance at a four-year Alabama accredited college, minimum 23 ACT, Alabama resident, a US citizen, financial need, and academic proficiency. National Wild Turkey Federation’s Scholarship – scholarship for students with a minimum of 3.0 GPA who plan to pursue a degree in an accredited college. Students must hold a current NWTF membership and have hunting license proof for qualifications. Awards range from $250 local level, $1,000 state level, and $10,000 national level. The Alabama Education and Training Voucher (ETV) Program – Funds available for foster youth and former foster youth to attend Alabama Colleges, Universities, and Vocational Training Institutions. Students may receive up to $5,000 a year for four years to pursue higher education. Visit www.statevoucher.org to apply or gain more information.

Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant – An official pageant of the Miss America Scholarship Program. Visit www.outstandingteen.homestead.com or call 205-223-5127 for more information.

ALFA Scholarship - $1,750 per student, per year will be awarded to students who plan to enroll or who are currently enrolled in Auburn University’s College of Agriculture, School of Forestry, Agricultural Engineering, or Ag Education. The University of Alabama Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship – (Incoming Freshman Only) These scholarships are awarded to first generation college students (defined as a student whose parents or siblings are not attending nor hold a degree from a college). In addition to this requirement, applicants must be an Alabama resident, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be admitted to the University of Alabama as a freshman student. First consideration will be given to those with demonstrated financial need: for priority consideration, a student must submit the FAFSA by March 1 of the year in which they are planning to enroll. In addition to completing the UA admissions and scholarship applications by December 1, please complete the Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship Application (submit it by February). Recipients will receive: $5,000 per year; renewable for four years if required GPA is maintained.

The University of Alabama College of Arts and Science Department of Theatre and Dance Audition Interview & Scholarship Day – For more information, visit www.theatre.ua.edu. These scholarships include acting, musical theatre, scenic, lighting, and costume design technical theatre, as well as theatre & stage management.

The University of Alabama Endowed Scholarship – deadline is December – Students can access the application by going to www.mybama.ua.edu. Click on the academics tab at the top of the page and scroll down to scholarships. You must be admitted in order to submit a scholarship application. You will be required to log on using your myBama log-in.

Auburn University Chemical Engineering – Up to $1,000 each renewable. An application and resume are required. Deadline is January.

KFC Scholarship – Students must have a 2.75 GPA, be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, have financial need, and have U.S. citizenship. Scholarship is $5,000 per year to equal $20,000 for four years. Visit www.kfcshcolars.org for an application or more information. Applications will open in January.

All-in-One Application Scholarship Competition – Two $1,000 scholarships offered. Apply online at http://allinoneapplications.com/scholarship.

Visine Scholarship Program - $5,000 scholarship to students who have demonstrated a clear vision or goal for their future through an essay or short video. High school seniors and current college students with a minimum 2.8GPA may submit an online application beginning February. (Deadline is Spring 2014). Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship To be considered eligible, you must be: a high school student who plans to enroll full time in one of the following: geology, geophysics, physics, chemical, civil, electrical, geological, geophysical, mechanical or petroleum engineering. Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program – To be eligible for this scholarship, you must demonstrate exemplary leadership drive, integrity, and citizenship at school, at home, at the workplace, and within the community. Be nominated by an eligible community leader, such as high school principal, elected official or executive director of a non-profit organization. The recipient will receive a $40,000 scholarship. Doing Good Scholarship – The Doing Good Scholarship awards $25,000, $10,000, and $5,000. To be eligible, you must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Applications can be found by going to http://studentscholarships.org/scholarship.php

North Mississippi Health Services System Medical Career Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student who wishes to pursue a degree in a medical field of study. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher to qualify. Mrs. Howell will have applications at a later date. Please note that an interview is required for the scholarship and will be conducted at North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton. Deadline for applications is Spring 2014.

Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship – A $500 scholarship for a senior girl who is planning to pursue the field of education. See Mrs. Howell for scholarship information. Deadline is Spring 2014.

Bevill State Community College Scholarships -  (Academic, Technical, Ambassador) Applications can be downloaded online at www.bscc.edu. Students must complete a scholarship application, submit a resume, and complete the FASFA to be eligible for these scholarships. Applications will be available at a later date and are usually due February/March. Mrs. Howell will pass out applications once they are received from the college. Ambassador Scholarships will require a written essay and interview.

Jennifer Millican Memorial Scholarship – A resume must be submitted with the application. Deadline is March 2014. Mrs. Howell will have details at a later date.

Northwest Shoals Community College Scholarships – (Academic, Technical, Ambassador, Vocal/Music) Application for admission, application for scholarship, and a high school transcript are required for all scholarships. Ambassador Scholarships require a written essay and interview. Vocal/Music Scholarships require an audition. Mrs. Howell will pass out applications once they are received from the college. Deadline is usually early March.

Buick Achievers Scholarship – Scholarship opportunity for students who plan to major in engineering, design, or business. Applications will be available online early January. Visit www.buickachievers.com for more information.

Tombigbee Electric Cooperative Scholarship – You must be a member of the Electric Cooperative to receive this scholarship. Scholarships have ranged from $500 to $2,500.  Applications will be delivered to Mrs. Howell after Christmas. Deadline: March 2014

Listerhill Credit Union Scholarship – This scholarship is open to any student with a Listerhill Credit Union account. Visit www.listerhill.com/community for more information.

Wal Mart Associate Scholarships – The WalMart Foundation offers scholarships to qualified Walmart associates and their high school senior dependents. Visit www.foundation.walmart.com for more information.

Playing With a Purpose – Applications are available online beginning September 1, 2014. This program is a unique program that recognizes and rewards the nation’s outstanding Christian Student Athletes. Students must meet all the following criteria: (1) is currently a high school sophomore, junior, or senior. (2) maintains a C average, (3) currently a varsity level athlete in one or more sports, and (4) be a committed follower of Jesus Christ. Burger King Scholarship – This scholarship is for graduating seniors. To qualify, students must have a 2.5GPA or higher. Applicants must plan to enroll full-time without interruption for the entire 2014-2015 academic year at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or vocational technical school. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic record and participation in school and community activities. Only the first 50,000 submitted applications will be processed. Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year – Awards outstanding students who have shown an extraordinary commitment to community service and good nutrition.  Awards 25 scholarships of $7,500. Applications are accepted from November 19th until March 6th. Visit www.whymilk.com

KOHL’S Cares for Kids Scholarship Program – Recognizes kids ages 6-18 who are outstanding young volunteers. Awards are given by recognizing two groups (ages 6-12) and ages (13-18). Store level winners receive a $50 gift card, regional winners (190 total) are awarded $1,000 toward post-secondary education, and national winners (10 total) will receive $5,000 toward post-secondary education. Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on their behalf. Visit www.kohlskids.com to nominate a deserving student. The 2014 nomination period will be January 31 through March 14, 2014.

Kid’s Chance Scholarship – Funds college tuition or technical training to young people whose parents have been permanently disabled or killed on the job. Scholarships are awarded once a year and students may apply every year they attend classes. Scholarships range from $500 to $2500. Visit www.alabamalawfoundation.org for more information.

National Co-Op Scholarship Program – Awarded to high school seniors who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of the listed Partner Institutions online. To qualify, students must have a GPA of 3.5 or better, apply and be accepted for the 2014-2015 academic year at one of the WACE Partner Institutions. Visit www.co-op.edu  to apply. The American Legion Need A Lift? – Resource list, scholarships, grants, and loans for which students may qualify – It has extensive information on scholarships for veteran’s dependents. Visit www.needalift.org

American Legion Legacy Scholarships -  The legacy scholarship is for dependents of active duty personnel of the United States military and National Guard and military reservists who were federalized and died on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. Visit www.legion.org for more information.

Gene Haas Foundation Machining Technology Scholarship – For graduating seniors, GED recipients, and displaced workers pursuing an associate degree of technology certificate in Machine Tool Technology.
